Since its inception in 1995 Take Stock in Children has:
- Received national recognition by being awarded the Excellence in Mentoring Award for Program Leadership from MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership.
- Florida has one of the lowest high school graduation rates in the country, and is the fourth largest minority populated state in the country.
- Take Stock in Children has a sustainable public-private model that achieves a high school graduation rate of 92%.
- We provide low-income children with mentors, case management and social services from middle school thru high college along with scholarship
- We engage parents, teachers, students and the community in supporting our scholars.
- 88% of scholars utilize their scholarships and are first generation college students.
- Since 1995, we have granted $109 million in college scholarships and 1.1 million hours of volunteer mentoring to over 15,000 children.
Pasco County Take Stock in Children Student Statistics:
- In 1997, the Pasco Education Foundation, Inc. becomes the lead agency for Pasco County’s Take Stock in Children program. Twenty five 7th grade students were selected with a projected high school graduation year of 2002
- Over 450 students have been selected as scholars with the Pasco County Take Stock in Children program since its inception in 1997
- Pasco County offers middle school students who are on their school's approved free/reduced lunch list an opportunity to earn a Florida Prepaid Scholarship by fulfilling contractual obligations
- In school year 2010-2011, 55% of the 67,136 students enrolled in Pasco County schools are eligible for free / reduced lunch status
Pasco County Take Stock in Children Investor Statistics
- 100% of the contributions towards Take Stock in Children scholarships are applied to the student’s Florida Prepaid College Scholarship or vocational/technical school training
- Contributions to Take Stock in Children will be matched dollar to dollar with funding from the Florida Prepaid Foundation, thereby doubling the investment
- 95% of Pasco County Take Stock in Children Scholars successfully stay on track to graduate high school and use their scholarship award.
