Congratulations to Employee Scholarship Winners!

Discover Marchman powered by Progress Energy!

Progress Energy has awarded the Pasco Education Foundation, Inc. $50,000 to fund a new initiative called “Discover Marchman.”

This award will be used to enhance the development of a multi-grade career academy for secondary and post-secondary students at Marchman Technical Education Center that includes career academies in Electricity, Drafting/Pre-Engineering (through Pasco/Hernando Comm. College), Carpentry, and Heating and Air Conditioning.

This funding will also be used to design and implement a marketing/advertising campaign to promote the academy and its national accreditation (COE.)  A seminar/workshop for approximately 100 middle and high school teachers and administrators will also be developed and conducted to familiarize them with Marchman Technical Education Center and its benefits.

My Favorite Older Person Essay Contest

My Favorite Older Persons
The Pasco Education Foundation was a proud sponsor of the 2008 My Favorite Older Person Essay Contest for fifth graders across Pasco County. On May 8, 2008, the awards ceremony was help to recognize the following distinguished writers and those who play such an important role in their lives:

1st Place: Pooja Patel, Seven Oaks Elementary
Pooja's favorite older person is her grandmother, Kanta Patel.

2nd Place: Brooke McAdow, Deer Park Elementary
Brooke's favorite older person is her grandmother, Vinnie Vojvadic.

3rd Place: Breanna Tonello, Schrader Elementary
Breanna's favorite older person is her grandmother, Mary Ellen McAlamey.

Honorable Mention: Michael Dodson, Deer Park Elementary
Michael's favorite older person is his grandfather, Stephen J. Kuzio.

Honorable Mention: Miranda Lough, Cotee River Elementary
Miranda's favorite older person is her grandfather, Greg Hannah.

All students listed above received an iPod Shuffle courtesy of Apple and the top three winners also received savings bonds from the Pasco Education Foundation.
